A Monster Calls.

The book I have chosen to read was A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. I say it was one of the most fascinating books I have ever read. This book was about a boy named Connor, he was a nice kid but he was always bullied at school. Things at home weren’t the best either Connor’s mom was sick very sick she would always be tired from treatments. Conner would have nightmares that he couldn’t figure out what they were about. The only thing Connor knows is someone calling his name for help. Every night Connor would wake up and check his clock, the clock read 12:07pm. Every night at 12:07 a monster came to talk to Connor.


The monster would tell him stories; strange stories about a queen can be both a good witch and a bad witch, a prince being a murderer and a savior, and more. The whole story is mostly about Connor trying to save his mom from dying. So Connor try’s to figure out what the monsters stories mean. All Connor has to do is tell the truth but it’s too hard for him to say. Connor enters his nightmare to try and save his mom. When Connor’s in his nightmare he tries to save his mom but the nightmare is to strong it yanks his mom downwards Connor cannot hold on to her so she slips his grip. The monster says you let her go why? Connor said that he couldn’t hold on anymore. Once Connor tells the truth he will be returned to earth but if he doesn’t tell the truth he will be stuck in his nightmare forever.
