About Top Hat Teen Reads

What?

Top Hat Teen Reads is a reading initiative brought to you by Hat High, Crescent Heights, & Eagle Butte High Schools, Alexandra Middle School, along with the Medicine Hat College Library & the Medicine Hat Public Library.

Why?

We want you to read more. Reading makes you smarter & more interesting. Reading exercises your brain. Reading helps you understand life and can change your life.

Reading is an important part of a good life, but we know it's not the only part. It takes physical, social, emotional, and intellectual parts to make the whole of a good life. We need to spend time on all these areas. If we only spent time on the physical we'd end up like this. If we only spent time on the intellectual we'd end up like this. If we only spent time on the social we'd end up like this. If we only spent time on the emotional we'd end up like, okay I don't have a picture for this one, but you get the idea.

Make time in your day and week to read.

How?

Participation is pretty simple.
  1. Pick a book from the set of selected books. Books are available at any participating library.
  2. Read the book.
  3. Participate by sharing your thoughts in school, in class, with this blog, anywhere really, or by attending related events.
  4. Repeat Steps 1-3 over the school year.
  5. At the end of the year vote for your favorite book.
