A Monster Calls by Garet Flemmer

A Monster Calls
The book I read was called A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. I really enjoyed this book because it was gripping right from the start. The main plot had me glued to the book. Connor, the main character, has had a troubled life. His mom fell sick a while ago and Connor has a truth that he refuses to tell, which brings the monster walking. The monster comes at 12:07 every night and tells him three stories. After the third story has been told, it is Connor’s turn to tell the fourth one, which is the truth. I really liked the way this book was written and the artistry that went along with it. I couldn’t put the book down even after class. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys true-to-life stories. The problems Connor has to face are very real and the way the kids react is very similar to who other kids would react. The author did an extremely good job at capturing Connors feelings and emotions, as well as set the mood for the whole book. The part I enjoyed most about the book is the fact that it teaches us to think about life and that telling the truth can more often than not be the key to being happy.

Captain Underpants by Logan Sundholm

Captain Underpants and The attack of the Talking Toilets by Dav Pickley
Captain Underpants and The attack of the Talking Toilets is about two boys Clyde and Harold, they wanted to join the invention convention but Mr.Krupp wouldn't let them because last year they ruined the convention. So Mr. Krupp put them in detention for the rest of the day of the Invention Convention. The night before they broke into the gym and messed with the projects and thought they could get away with it, but Melvin Seedly tattled on them.. While in detention, the boys wrote a comic about the attack of the talking toilets and went to the gym to copy it on the Patsy 2000 which they thought was a photocopier, but it makes things 3D. The school was taken over by toilets that only one person could stop - Mr Krupp. When you snap your fingers he becomes Captain Underpants and saves the day because of Harold and Clyde. They were named heroes because they made a deal with Mr.Krupp that they would fix the school and not tell anyone he is Captain Underpants.

Chopsticks By Hadiza Oredegbe

Chopsticks By Jessica Anthony & Rodrigo Corral
“Read once & Fall madly in Love, not just with the book, but with the characters”
By Hadiza Oredegbe

I have a confession to make. I actually read this book without reading any reviews. That is highly unusual for me because I rarely read any books and when I do, it’s under two circumstances: 1) I’ve read it before, loved it and would read it again or 2, it comes with the highest recommendations from my most trusted friends. Chopsticks is a bit of teenage story for me because out of all the books to choose from the library, I chose it simply because of first impressions. One glance through the book and I knew it was for me: The entire story is told in photos of everyday things. It amazed me in five seconds, so I signed it out.
When you first look at the cover, what do you think it’s going to be about? Well, for me I thought it was going to be your usual girl meets boy. But Chopsticks is so much more than that. Depending on how you interpret the novel, it could actually tell two different stories. It could tell the simple story of sixteen-year-old Gloria a piano player, who falls in love with Francisco Mendoza, a boy who becomes her escape from her stressful life. Sounds fluffy, right? Well, it can also tell the deep and dark story of a lonely, broken, child pushed so hard to perform to perfection that she slowly loses her mind, causing you to question everything you see in the book or thought you saw. Do I have your attention yet??
Chopsticks is a simple brilliant book. The phrase “a picture is worth a thousand words” was one of the very few quotes that got my attention. This book really doesn’t need the extra words. Chopsticks is very intimate in that way because it feels like you’ve been peeping into someone else’s life, as if you were reading their diary for eighteen months in only 272 pages. It’s the kind of book that you could zip through in thirty minutes. I am so happy that I choose this book, not only can a teenage reader relates to this, they can also get into it so much that you would ever want to put it down.
Description: “After her mother died, Glory retreated into herself and her music. Her single father raised her as a piano prodigy, with a rigid schedule and the goal of playing sold-out shows across the globe. Now, as a teenager, Glory has disappeared. As readers flash back to the events leading up to her disappearance, they see a girl on the precipice of disaster.”

Perfect by Natasha Deis

I have been reading the book called Perfect by Ellen Hopkins, in this computer class, i would recommend reading this book because its about people conforming to society. In the book there is five different people and you learn about their strugglesin life. It is interesting because they're all connected to eachother in some way. Kendra is trying to becaome a model and she abuses her body by not eating enough food.i liked this book because its abou7t people who should appear to have perfect lives do not. it opens your eyes to realize how good you might acctually have your life.

Insurgent by Kamina Moore

I read the book Insurgent by Veronica Roth. It is the second book in the Divergent series. It is a very good book and i would recommend it to anyone. This book would apeal to many people because it has romance, action and many twists to keep the reader interested. The main character in this novel is a girl named Beatrice, also known as Tris. Tris faces many new challanges and faces the aftermath of the simulation that killed off her previous faction. Tris also goes to great lengths to find out the secret her parents died to keep safe. Overall this was a awesome book and I would suggest it to everyone.

The Hunger Games by Maryne Glas

The Hunger Games, By Suzanne Collins
The Hunger Games is a good book. It is very interesting and exciting. It takes place in the future after North America has been destroyed and divided into 12 districts controlled by the Capitol. Every year the Capitol hosts the Hunger Games: a fight to the death. Each district sends one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18. Katniss volunteers to go in order to save her sister Pim who was originally chosen. Katniss and Peta( the boy who was chosen from their district) travel to the Capitol where they take part in the Hunger Games and fall in love.

Glass book review by Emily Lagran

Glass by Ellen Hopkins is a book I would recommend to anyone who reads. The main character Kristina Snow is a young woman with a complicated life. Living in her world of lies, pain and struggle with addiction. Caring for her baby while living with the monster, things get harder. Now fallen in love with Trey who also struggles with the monster, their relationship takes them through a series of up and down events. I think the reason why this is such a popular book for young readers is because teenagers relate to the events, even though I haven’t personally dealt with any of these events written, I still feel like I have relate to the characters in the book. Glass is one of my favorite books I’ve read yet, because it makes you feel like you’re in her world. You see what society is like with drugs, even as a fictional book.
Quote from Glass:

“Six months since we met up
again we are inseparable,
an intricate weave.
No longer do I believe
this is a temporary fling.
More like total commitment.
More like I have walked
down the aisle, holding
hands with the monster.”

City of Fallen Angels by Becky Holmes

City of Fallen Angels
Cassandra Clare
The book City of Fallen Angels was a book full of adventure. It was hard to put down because there was a new adventure on every page. The plot of the book was very interesting, as in the other books in the serious. I have read almost all the books by Cassandra Clare and by far this was the best. It follows the life of a girl named Clary who recently found out she was a shadowhunter. She fell in love with a fellow shadowhunter Jace. Clary is the antagonist’s son. He is a rouge shadowhunter and the book focuses on the results of a rebellion he started. The description in the book makes the characters come to life and feel so real. Along the way Clary runs into many obstacles as she has in every book in the Mortal Instruments series. Some of the obstacles are Jace is controlled by another antagonist, her best friend Simon, who was recently turned into a daylight vampire, is persuaded by many different vampires to join their side. Clary’s mother also is now married to a werewolf Luke. To summarize this book is really great and I’d recommended it.

Days away from home and yet without her basic wants of cellphone use and hair straightners. She is surrounded by a land with no value, as she sees it. Over a months time Alexandria has to live the reality of life. In the end it all comes down to mind over matter.

I reccomend this book because its adventerous and realistic.

Juice by Matthew Kolosetti

Juice by Eric Walters
The book I read during the Digital Citizenship was Juice by Walter Eric 1957 published at Victoria, BC 2005. Even know this is an old book it was incredible for football lovers like me, it had great detail of the football plays and much more that made this book an irresistible book to put down at many points because you always wondered what would happen next. This amazing book included lots humor, action and sadly many cliffhangers. This would be my favorite football fiction book that I have read. In this book basically a new coach comes to their high school and Michael and his teammates are convinced that steroids are the way to complete the season, but what they didn’t know is their coach’s determination to obtain a college post rests on his ability create a division one high school team. This book I really enjoyed throughout the whole book which is why I rate it 9 out of 10 because I didn’t complete the whole book.

Fade by Harley Tremblay

Fade by Lisa McMann
My book repot was about my book “Fade”. It is the second book in the Wake Trilogy. This book was about Jaine and Cabel, whose real life was starting to get tougher then there dreams. Just to do something as little as spend time together was getting hard for them to do. They tried to, but they had no luck. As the days were passing disturbing thing were starting to happen at their school Fieldridge High, When Jaine walks into her classmate’s a violent nightmare started. She finally breaks open, but nothing goes as planned. Not even close. It was way over their head with everything that was happening. On top of these Cabel’s shocking behavior had grave consequences for the both of them. When I read the first book I thought that this book would be as well. It seemed to me the this book was the same as the first one but with a different sitting and some new characters.

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephanie Balerud

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower is a story written by Stephen Chbosky.
The book was written an interesting way in my perspective. A young boy names Charlie writes letters in his diar every now and then. He begins each letter by "Dear friend," because he isn't positive who he's writing to. He's just writting about pretty much everything, literally. Charlie would write about what happened that day or week, his thoughts, emotions and past times.

It's about Charlie's life at school and his relationship with his teacher at first. His teacher thinks he's gifted and assigns extra books to Charlie and homework, which he enjoys. He is encouraged by his teacher to participate in life more and make more friends. Once he does, that's when everything starts going crazy in his life. Which brings him back to come bad points of his childhood.

Throughout the book you realize Charlie change and develop as a human being. Also you notice about how high school and college can effect a person's life. It's a truly terrific book and I'll possibly read it many more times. The way it's written couldn't have been chosen possibly any better. In my opinion, I'd say it's definitely a must read.
